Stylish new living room under $3000-really?

In my own search for fabulous interiors I have noticed a great deal of deals and splurges.
I have made most of my interiors come together through good deals with the occasional splurge.
Above,  is my $3000 living room from scratch.
I will break it down below.
One would hope that family or the local thrift could amply fill in with the accessories that I have left out.

The fantastic British architect Sally Kelly, offers affordable original artwork like this one for $30.
There is no excuse for owning mass produced art-ish things.

I paired it with this one of Sally's for $35
I have several of her wonderful paintings.

This Parker cocktail table is $199 at o.co
Don't forget shipping is only $2.95 but buyers  beware the returns are not so easy.

2 of these side tables from India at o.co equal $358 for the pair.
I am mixing metals and styles for an eclectic and collected look.

On to seating...
The Karlstad loveseat is $479 from Ikea
and the two chairs take up a large chunk of the budget.

Two of the Cielo chair from CB2 at $599 each eats up almost half of the budget.

Two of the Felicity lamps from World Market are a total of $260

Small pillows from World Market at about $45 for three and a few vases like these

Add to this two gallons of Sherwin-Williams Super paint
(a fave product of mine)
at $40 each, equaling $80 and now lets add it all up.

Original art $65
Parker cocktail table $199
Side tables $358
Sofa $479
Chairs $1200
Lamps $260
Paint $80
Pillows and accessories $85

Grand total $2726
What could you do with the $274 dollars left?
There are always give and take spots to pair what you have already. Any good designer will help a client find the best things to keep.
Next...
total luxe.

Lighting find

This has to be my lowest priced, non-thrifted find.
I have been wanting a pair of gourd lamps for my living room to round out table lighting and the moder elements. The least expensive gourd lamp I found was $49.99 at World Market. Two at that price plus another $50 for shades had me wanting to wait a while.
The Brno chairs blew the budget (side note they will arrive on the 9th, yay!) in big way.
Now for the super cheap find. I was browsing toothbrushes in my handy, dandy local Walmart and a black lampshade caught my eye. They seem to be scarce in these parts. Anyways, there were the two lamps at $15 each! Ack!
I went 'round and 'round with shades but ended up with these black shades, also a bargain at $15 at Walmart.

The area rug and coffee table have got to go and the black velvet chair will be moved to another room.
I am expecting a large abstract painting for above the sofa next week. I am totally pleased with my $60 pair of lamps and shades and so is my wallet.

Friday finds - late edition

Etsy why do you taunt me?
After receiving a shocking cell phone bill, courtesy of my two teens, here are a few lovely items that I will not be buying but you can.

  Pair Stiffel lamps $399 HERE

So cute. HERE

I need you Ben Seibel candle holders--sob sob. HERE

These pastel salt cellars have Spring written all over them but would make a elegant way to serve jams or other condiments individually any time of the year. HERE
 Have a lovely weekend.

resource roundup

Here are a few of my favorite internet resources for your budget friendly decorating needs.

HouseFabric is a favorite source of discount decorator fabrics including some Kravet and Duralee fabric. Their stock varies but the selection is huge. I have ordered from them before and got an excellent quality product as well as the ability to order memos.

The old Overstock.com now called o.co, is a great place for bamboo shades. They have tons of sizes and colors, though not well organized on the site. The five shades I ordered came quickly and were very good quality, unlike the ones I got from Macy's.

Etsy.com
Of course you have heard of Etsy but it is my favorite source for original art at prices that beat those of galleries.
 worldmarket.com

This might seem like an odd addition but I'm including it because it is a good place for plain white basic pieces. All of the tiny dipping bowls and little appetizers plates in plain white make for versatile place settings that include your good china or other patterns.

I like World Market for table linens. I love their casual and colorful linens.

That about wraps it up for now. I'll post more another time.
