"All art is copying" is an alleged quote by Picasso and we all know that imitation is the sincerest form of flattery.

I was so flattered to see my friend, Sally Kelly's interpretation of my art. I love dreamy swirls.
It dawned on me that I had been doing my own copying although I prefer to call "inspired work". :)
"In the future" by Kerry Steele |
This new painting of mine was part of taking a break from a rather large commission. It was inspired by this Wolf Kahn painting on Day 1 of my Virtual Show House.

Loi Thai conceived the brilliant design and I was in love with all of it but the quick tidy brushstrokes of the painting stuck with me and it is a technique that I like to use.

I think I'll keep it up.

Yes, so true!
And BTW the piece is fabulous!
I must add that Loi from Tone on Tone is one of the most talented Designers I have seen!!
I LOVE this new look!
Your painting "In the Future" reminds
me of Vincent van Gogh's "Irises".
In his painting, the irises are dark blue
except for one white one.
"In the Future" is probably my favorite of yours.
That is so funny, when I saw the first piece...I thought it was you.
Thanks Kerry for showing my 'Ode' to you!!! Sally x
Kerry I think it is great to experiment and stretch ones abilities so to speak.
O hand I am getting ready to read The Art Forger!

2012 Artists Series ( I think you will enjoy!)
I just had to teach this to my 11 year old. She made a wonderful drawing and when I complimented her she said she just copied something. I told her that's what art is...her own interpretation of something else!
