What was the best thing you bought in 2012?

This morning one of the things I purchased in 2012 made me smile because I like it so much. I hesitate to sound so materialistic but beautiful things in my house really do bring me joy.
I recently had to explain to my husband, who believes that practical gifts are the best, that sometimes a girl just wants something pretty. I have simply started buying my own pretty things. It is just best that way.

I bought myself two of these trumpet vases from the Pink Pagoda's blue and white shop for my birthday. I had been keeping my eye out for blue and white porcelain all year. A local auction helped add to my collection too.

I see the umbrella stand each time I come down our front staircase and the ginger jar each time I pass our living room.
I did not need any of these things but the money was well spent, in my opinion.
The other fabulous thing I bought last year came husband approved for its practicality factor. He pretty much insisted that I buy it and I am glad I did.

My ginormous studio easel has been a necessity for large canvases and it rolled right on out of the room to more graciously host our Christmas guests.

Tell me, what is the best thing you bought in 2012?

smiles! I searched all year for blue pots with dragons..year of the dragon you know...but settled on two that were just blue floral. They are in my entry with huge palms. This is the year of the snake...so I think I'll pass on that and buy some Turkish towels

I love those vases. The best thing I purchased was my Nespresso milk frother. I use it everyday and make all kinds of Latte's. Oh, and maybe my brass coffee table.

Love your picks of 2012. I purchased at the Pottery Barn Sidewalk Sale the beautiful duvet and shams in the Mattine Porcelain Blue. Adore the way it has softened my bedroom and then found a lamp at Home Goods with a base the same color!

All the Best in the Year Ahead!

Other than my Coop, I've gotten a lot of fun stuff for it so its' hard to count a favorite! I love searching for well priced 'treasures' at estate sales and my favorite 'junk' shops. If I had to pick a favorite maybe my architectural cookie jars I've found? Or my industrial metal bookshelves for all my design magazines and books from CB2! Love those too!

Awwwww! I'm so glad you like the vases! My favorite purchase is the painting you did for over my mantle! It made the hugest difference in the room and it makes me happy every time I'm in there. Also, I get so many compliments!

I could never pick a favorite. I've come across so many wonderful things for my home I couldn't possibly narrow it down. And I have some blue & white porcelain on my list, too!

My fave purchase was a Kerry Steele print! My other favorite purchase was a new shower curtain. It totally changed the look of my dated bathroom!
