Nooks

Small, tucked away reading nooks hold great appeal to so many as an fantasy escape spot that can actually be attained.
I picked a few favorites and it just happens that many look good for napping too.

Note the cation on the pillow "The Roost"

Some seem suited for daydreaming too.

Do you have a reading nook?

Room of the week

"We're all mad here. I'm mad, you're mad."
I couldn't resist and Alice in Wonderland reference for the photo.
I love a climb in bookshelf but more pillows please and perhaps better lighting.

Would you love or hate this?

Room of the week

It has been a week of late nights working and I had a really hard time not choosing something to be snarky about so I went full on romantic.
The only fault I find is that I might wish for a comfortable place to lounge.  Let's pretend it is on the opposite side of the room, OK?

Project pile up

Does this ever happen you? You have a project you wish to start and you realize that to be done properly you need to tackle something else first. The trouble is you can't tackle that until you do another thing (or maybe two) and just give up in disgust.

Recently my husband declared loudly that a major priority would be to finish the library. It is a room just inside my front door that was temporarily set up as a bedroom for my stepson. The bed was one of two matching twin beds from my little girl's room and it is still there.
I recently chose the paint for my little girl's room and posted about it. It seemed smart to leave the other bed downstairs until the painting was done. My mother in-law's visit derailed that paint job so it is still not done.

You see, months ago, I mentioned not painting that room because there is a useless door to the bathroom on one wall. I was told that it wasn't going to be closed up until we redo that bathroom.
I just want the walls painted so it doesn't look like something out of a gothic romance any longer.
Last night the genius handyman says, "Aren't we going to close up that door before painting?"
It was his birthday so I did not strangle him.

Old, new and maybe blue

I always laugh at the argument about decorating with books.
There are those that are appalled at the idea and those that embrace it and those that simply realize that if must put the thing down eventually it ought to look nice. I fall into the last category.

Personally, I am a fan of older books whether they be colorful or crusty.

There is something so romantic about old books stacked up.
I do not, however, subscribe to the fashion of ripping off covers or white washing them for decorative purposes, But hey, you live your life, I'll live mine.

There is just something about the way that books fill in a space that magazines or other items just don't equal.
I would not organize them by color but I have been guilty of that when I had to stage my house for sale.

I have become a believer in removing the paper covers but that is another war.

Perfection!
What about you? Do you organize by color? Are you a paper cover remover too?

Office space

One constant in my adult life, has been the battle against paper clutter. The danger in tucking them away is, for me, completely and totally forgetting about important papers.
I had plans for complete and total organization in this department with the addition of built-in cabinets and shelves in my library. The arrival of an additional teenager put those plans on hold, at least for the next 155 days. Yes, am counting down until the room  (and my life) is mine again.
The plans change in my slightly every time I see great office spaces.

I have always wanted a Wassily chair.

I need some serious storage too.

So many spaces, while appealing, seem unrealistic in terms of storage and work space.

This cute little nook is more like what I am working with now. It involves lots of juggling piles of papers with no real place to put them.

How do you keep the paper clutter in check?
