Iris art

Years ago, the last time I painted, I generally did flowers. Irises were a favorite of mine.

This is a detail of a tiny (5inches x 10 inches) that I did. I have a larger (better) one that is buried in the abyss that is otherwise known as my basement. I need to dig it out. I haven't seen it in about 12 years.
My life has undergone some pretty incredible changes since then and irises come out looking like this now.

"Ensata" by Kerry Steele 24 x 24 acrylic on canvas
Regardless of which anyone prefers, I think it is interesting to see how my paintings have evolved and I enjoy seeing the work of other artists over time.

Purple in your art?
I like this one VERY, VERY much. The
splashy white in the right third of the painting
reminds me of lily-of-valley.
Ok, what does "Ensata" mean?

Interesting the direction your technique went...Iris is one of my favorite flowers. The traditional one is lovely but the dimension and energy in the later intriguing!

This is so cool to see how an artist evolves. I wonder where the next 5 years will take us? see you soon!

Sytle does evolve constantly, I see what you mean with the 2 beautiful paintings, though both similar, I truly am drawn to the Ensata, just gorgeous. Happy Sunday!

This is very interesting ... because 12 years ago I would have probably preferred the more traditional iris ... today I vote for your evolved piece hand down!! That being said they are BOTH beautiful!! xo

I really like the traditional iris painting. Of course, I love paintings of flowers anyway so it is just a given for me to love this one. I love the color purple and think it is a beautiful painting. :)

Kerry, I love the "vintage" one. I can't believe you have art in your basement. Put it on Etsy and sell it if you don't want it. People would love it. i would actually put both paintings near one another.

I love the Ensata version!! Love My Crafty Home Life's idea to put them side by side.
