Room of the week

AD
I have blue and white on the brain lately...more than usual so this room jumped out at me.
I have seen two different fabrics on one chair but don't recall seeing two fabrics on the same style chairs in a room. I like the idea.
I do, however, think that the wallpaper and the ornate chairs along the wall fight with the simplicity of the table. I generally love a juxtaposition of styles but that aspect of the room doesn't work for me.
Thumbs up or down ?

I could not agree more with your assessment, Kerry. Too much and too incoherent.

I agree. I like the table and mix of fabrics on the chair. Fun and Fresh. I like the wallpaper ... but not the two "looks" together. IMHO!! xo

When analyzing then all sorts of things come up but first instinct is that it's nice and I could play a few games of cards or something without getting distracted. Sometimes the no matchy rule is quite refreshing. Too much matching bores me and I think every room needs to have some tension.

For a magazine shot, I love this room. Its pretty to look at and I love both fabrics. For a practical use room though, not happening. I can not think of a more dangerous fabric choice for dining chairs.

Kerry, I do think the chairs fight against the beauty of the wallcovering. The eye cannot rest.

Me too! Getting ready to post my Blue& White living room next week with your gorgeous painting in it! Can't wait to receive my 2nd one! Love the chairs in this picture the most!

Two thumbs up for the chairs - love the different but complementary fabrics. Not so much with the wallpaper though...

I hate the chairs; well, the fabric on the chairs. They're like court jesters in the Garden of Eden.

This is when Frederick the Great's fatuous comment to Mozart seems perfectly appropriate: "Too many note, too many notes!"

I think what is "off" for me is the different wood color/style of the chair legs and the table. But I do like the idea of different fabrics on chairs.

I love the chairs and everything in the room except for the paper. Simple is better?
