Bringing back the pear

acrylic on 5 x 7 canvas by Kerry Steele

My good pal, Christina Baker and I were having a talk and the idea to "bring back the pear" sprouted. Remember when pears were everywhere?
It was all her idea and I laughed but then started thinking about ways to turn it around with irony, fun and color that speaks to me. I got to work with watercolors then acrylics.
Christina posted hers on Instagram last night and invited others to join in.

My first stab at this was in watercolor.

well you know I would never attempt a pair painting. However, next time you want to revive a fruit I suggest the lemon. My favorite.

Hysterical! Yes, I remember the time when pears were so hot. I myself painted at least 4 different pear pictures. I have 2 of them proudly hanging in my laundry room. I'm glad you're bringing them back! I like them so much more than the sunflower :)

This is so true! I remember painting a pear for my first apartment after college. I love yours! I was just thinking that a nice pear painting would look good in our kitchen.
