I am so thrilled that this opportunity coincided with my plans to makeover my son's (aka Mr. DMM) room while he is away at college. Thank you Linda
Let's get down to business.
My idea is to create a cozy, eclectic guest room that my son can also use on school breaks.
Many of the furniture pieces I already have but are in different rooms. The idea is to use classics along with mid-century and funkier items to create an "undecorated" look with lots of layers and interest.
I put together a Pinterest board for the room.
Here are a few of my inspiration photos.

Here is what I started with...
photo when we moved in in 2010 |
This lavender did not last long with a teenaged boy and he requested white walls, so that is what he got along with a mish-mash of furniture that was functional but that's about it. I waited patiently knowing hoping that he would venture off to college after high school. He did.
The first thing to do was to empty the room and start painting. I was hoping to get help from my husband and get this done in one day but he works a lot, so I moved everything to one side and started anyways.
I chose Sherwin-Williams Naval as the wall color.
Here is the mock-up with my slapdash use of the SW color visualizer.
Why not photograph the actual room? Because it is currently full of paint trays and furniture all over the place.
Tune in next week to see progress. That means you too, Mr. DMM!
